News from Sensitive Towers

Hello everyone it’s me Trevor. Just a quick post to let you all know what’s going on in Sensitive World.

As I announced yesterday on my @TrevorSensitive Twitter account, unfortunately I’ve had to sack Justin for wearing the wrong shoes. Rumours that he was undermining the indiepop ethos of The Locals by playing Black Sabbath riffs during band practise are unfounded, as are any stories that he has been moonlighting inappropriately in a local beard-and-sandals folk group. I’ve always had trouble with guitarists that don’t wear Doc Martens or sneakers, and I’m glad to be shot of him, frankly.

The rest of us decided that rather than postpone any new recordings, Edmund and I would share guitar duties on the new album. As we don’t do concerts, it’s less of a faff than it might otherwise be. Edmund has suggested a warmer, more psychedelic sound, which the girls liked, and I think I’ve managed to prevent any unwanted bass solos by telling him he can do some “guitar freak-outs”. At least I think that’s what the psychedelic people call them.

And as if Justin going wasn’t enough upheaval, there’s some good news too. Chelsie is having some time off for maternity leave, so Aemelia is filling her shoes (not literally, as Chelsie’s got really tiny feet) and doing all the drum programming for the new record. This does mean it’s all going to be machines, which should take things in an interesting direction.

This means that the new look Locals line-up is:
Trevor Sensitive – singing, guitar, tambourine
Edmund of Abingdon – the bass guitar, guitar
Aemelia Norton – keyboards, programming.

Dandelion Radio Session

We’re in session on the February edition of Mark Whitby’s Dandelion Radio Show so get yourselves over to DandelionRadio.com to hear it! We’ve recorded some real goodies for this one:

  • A new version of I’ve Read Finnegans Wake from our album Sensitive - Edmund was having a snooze in the studio when we recorded this so Justin had to write a new bass part (he couldn’t play Edmund’s) and then use a fancy electronic thingy on his guitar to make it sound like a bass
  • A brand new original track, called The Bag on my Back. It’s not a song about suicide bombers.
  • Two covers – the ELO’s 10538 Overture, and George Hamilton’s Dead by legendary Sarah Records band The Golden Dawn which features Aemilia’s first venture into doing backing vocals.

Mark’s Unwashed Territories label will be releasing the two original songs from the session as a single after February’s show finishes broadcasting.

Album review by Bob Osborne

Bob Osborne of Salford City Radio has reviewed Sensitive on his blog here - he reckons that people will be speaking Bout it in “hushed reverential tones” which is good enough for us!

SENSITIVE – It’s out!!

“Just when I thought I’d never hear genuine catchy indiepop ever again then this shy bunch blow me away. Long may they remain sensitive and local” – Brumcast’s Chris Downing

Here it is, folks – our debut album is now available for download in the shop.

Here’s the deal – it’s a “name your own price” release. Which means, if you want to, you can enjoy this 10-track indiepop bonanza ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGE.

However, obviously we’d love it if you’d pay for it, so here’s an incentive.

We’re planning to release six singles this year. A bit like The Wedding Present did with the Hit Parade in 1992, only, er, half as many. SO: if you spend more than £2.99 on Sensitive, you will automatically become part of the Sensitive Singles Club, and you will be entitled to all of the singles for half-price. How’s that sound?

Whether you decide to pay for it or not, this is what we want to see appearing in that annoying little window in the bottom left of your iTunes.

Off to the shop with you – get downloading!

Between now and then, here’s the track “Let’s Head for the Country” as a taster…

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the new Trevor Sensitive and the Locals cyber internet home page. We’re absolutely delighted with the artwork done for us by Manda Rin (of Bis and Data Panik fame). When you’ve finished here you should of course potter over to PlanetManda.com and check out her website.

We’ll put plenty of stuff up on here when Justin starts smoking again (he’s driving us all mad at the moment so we’re a little distracted)

But as a taster of things to come here’s our combined cover of the Girls Aloud song “Miss You Bow Wow” and The Fall’s “Bremen Nacht” recorded for our Brumcast session for Rhubarb Radio last December:
